Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy explains how we handle personal information across the EachPayday websites and the EachPayday app. The short version: the app keeps your budget on your own device and sends us nothing, and the website collects only what you choose to give it. The rest of this page spells that out properly.

1. About this policy

EachPayday is made and sold by O'Connor Digital Marketing (ABN 11 784 527 097), a sole trader business operated by Nate O'Connor, based in Queensland, Australia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean O'Connor Digital Marketing.

This policy covers three places you might interact with EachPayday:

  • The app at app.eachpayday.com.au (installed or in a browser)
  • The marketing site at eachpayday.com.au
  • The help site at docs.eachpayday.com.au

We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and this policy explains how. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, section 11 explains the additional rights you have there. By using our websites or the app, you agree to the practices described here. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@eachpayday.com.au and we will give you a straight answer.

2. The app: your budget never reaches us

This is the most important section, so it comes first.

The EachPayday app does not collect, transmit or store any of your information on our systems. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics inside the app, and no connection to your bank. Your budget (your income, expenses, balances, history and settings) is stored only in the app's local storage on your own device.

When you export a backup, the app creates a file on your device that only you control. It is not uploaded anywhere by us. The app is not designed to receive or store your budget data on our systems, and under normal operation we never receive it, so we are not in a position to access it, lose it, leak it or sell it. It also means we cannot recover it for you, which is why the app encourages regular backups.

Licence activation (from launch). When paid licences launch, entering your licence key in the app will involve a check against our licence service (hosted on Vercel) to confirm the key is valid and count the activation. That check involves the licence key and basic technical information such as your IP address and request metadata, as with any internet request. It does not include any of your budget data, which stays on your device. The licence service holds only your licence record: the key, your name and email from the purchase, how many devices have activated it, and a coarse device label (such as "Mac Chrome") for each activation so you can manage your own devices in Settings. Licence records are retained while the licence remains active and for any period reasonably necessary to administer the licence and comply with legal obligations.

Referral program. Every licence carries a referral code. If a referral code is used on a purchase, we record which licence's code was used against that purchase so the reward can be tracked, confirmed after the 30-day window, and reversed if the purchase is refunded. If you claim a referral payout, we collect the payout details you give us, a PayPal email address or your gift card preference, solely to send the payout. Referral records are kept with licence records. The program's full rules are at eachpayday.com.au/referral.

In-app feedback (optional). If you use the app's Send feedback form, we receive your message, your app version, and a reply email address if you choose to give one. It is delivered to our support inbox by Resend, our email delivery provider, and handled as support correspondence under section 3. Nothing from your budget is included.

3. What information we collect (websites and sales)

Outside the app, we collect only the following:

  • Waitlist email address. If you join the launch waitlist, we collect the email address you enter, via Buttondown, our email provider.
  • Purchase and licence records (from launch). When you buy EachPayday, our merchant of record, Stripe, processes the payment and provides us with your name, email address and purchase record, which we use to create your licence. We never see or store your full card details; Stripe handles those.
  • Support correspondence. If you email hello@eachpayday.com.au, we keep the correspondence so we can help you and keep context for future questions. Our standing support rule: we will never ask you to send us your backup file, because it contains your full financial history. We troubleshoot from screenshots and specific values only.
  • Website interaction information. Our websites are hosted on Vercel, whose infrastructure keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and operation. The marketing and help sites also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which are cookieless and collect anonymised page-view and performance data. We cannot identify you from this data. The app itself contains no analytics at all.

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health, racial, political or biometric information) through any surface, and we do not want it. Your financial information stays in the app on your device and is never collected by us.

4. How we collect information

  • Directly from you, when you join the waitlist, buy a licence or email us.
  • Through the websites, in the form of anonymised, cookieless analytics and standard hosting logs (see section 6).
  • From our sales platform, which passes us your purchase record after you buy.

We will not collect personal information about you without your knowledge and we do not use deceptive methods to collect it.

5. How we use your information

We use the information described above only to:

  • tell waitlist subscribers about the launch and occasional build updates, with one-click unsubscribe in every email;
  • deliver your licence key, verify activations and provide the updates you are entitled to;
  • respond to support questions and honour consumer-law obligations such as refunds where they apply;
  • keep basic business and tax records as required by Australian law;
  • understand, in aggregate, how the websites perform and which pages are read.

We do not use your information for any purpose you would not reasonably expect. We do not send marketing beyond what you signed up for. We never sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we never share it with advertisers or data brokers.

6. Cookies and website analytics

Our websites do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking of any kind.

  • Vercel Web Analytics measures page views on eachpayday.com.au without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
  • Vercel Speed Insights collects anonymised performance measurements (how fast pages load) on eachpayday.com.au, also without cookies.
  • Theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode on our websites, that choice is saved in your own browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
  • Buttondown sets what is technically necessary to process the waitlist form when you submit it.

Because our analytics are cookieless, there is no analytics cookie to opt out of. You can still use browser settings or extensions to limit any data sent while browsing.

7. Third-party services

These are the services we use that may handle personal information, with links to their privacy policies:

  • Vercel hosts all three EachPayday websites and provides the cookieless analytics. Vercel is a US company. https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • Buttondown stores the waitlist email list and sends our launch emails. Buttondown is a US company. https://buttondown.com/legal/privacy
  • Stripe is our merchant of record from launch: it processes payments, stores purchase records, and handles card details, GST on sales, and receipts through its Managed Payments service. Purchases are presented through Stripe's Link service, which issues the receipts. Stripe is a US company with an Australian entity. https://stripe.com/au/privacy
  • Resend delivers our transactional email: licence key emails after purchase, and messages you send us through the app's feedback form. Resend is a US company. https://resend.com/legal/privacy-policy

Some of these providers store data outside Australia, primarily in the United States, and information they hold may be stored in more than one jurisdiction. Overseas privacy laws may differ from Australian law. By joining the waitlist or purchasing, you consent to that overseas handling. We choose providers with strong published privacy practices and we give them only the minimum needed to do their job.

We only ever share personal information where it is necessary to deliver what you asked for, where the law requires it, or where you have explicitly agreed.

8. How we store and protect your information

Your budget data: stored only on your device, protected by whatever protections your device has (passcode, encryption, biometrics). We recommend keeping your device secured and your backup files somewhere safe. We hold no copy.

Waitlist and purchase records: stored in the systems of the providers named in section 7, protected by their security controls plus strong unique passwords and multi-factor authentication on our accounts.

How long we keep things:

  • Waitlist email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, or until we retire the waitlist after launch, whichever comes first.
  • Purchase and tax records are kept for at least five years as required by Australian taxation law, and up to seven years in line with standard business record-keeping practice.
  • Support correspondence is kept while it remains useful for helping you, and is deleted on request where the law allows.

If there is a data breach: we comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. If a breach of data we hold is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify the affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required. It is worth repeating that the data we hold about you is minimal by design: an email address, and from launch a purchase record. Your budget is not on our systems and cannot be part of any breach of them.

9. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (for example, removing you from the waitlist). Email hello@eachpayday.com.au. We will respond within 30 days and there is no charge. In the rare case where we cannot fully comply (for example, tax records the law requires us to keep), we will explain exactly why.

For your budget data, no request is needed: it is on your device, and you can export or erase it yourself in Settings at any time.

10. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@eachpayday.com.au with the details and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

11. If you are in the UK or the EU (GDPR)

EachPayday is priced in Australian dollars and made in Australia, but anyone with a supported card can buy it. If you use our websites or buy a licence from the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR apply to the small amount of personal information we hold about you, and this section sets out how we meet them. The data controller is O'Connor Digital Marketing, identified in section 1.

Our legal bases. We rely on performance of a contract to process your name, email address, purchase record and licence record when you buy EachPayday, and to send referral payouts you claim. We rely on consent for the launch waitlist, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. We rely on legitimate interests for support correspondence, for the security logs our hosting provider keeps, and for the cookieless, aggregated analytics described in section 6. We rely on legal obligation for the business and tax records Australian law requires us to keep.

Your rights. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to our processing of it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where consent is our basis. Email hello@eachpayday.com.au and we will respond within one month, free of charge. Where a legal obligation prevents full erasure (such as tax records), we will delete everything we can and explain what remains and why. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and as section 5 says, we never sell it.

International transfers. The providers listed in section 7 are based primarily in the United States, so information they hold for us is transferred outside the UK and the EEA. Each of these providers publishes its transfer safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, in the privacy policies linked in section 7, and we give them only the minimum needed to do their job.

Complaints. We would appreciate the chance to resolve any concern first, but you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority: the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom, or your national data protection authority in the EEA.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or legal obligations change, for example when the sales platform is confirmed. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version, and material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use of the websites or app after a change means you accept the updated policy. This policy is worth re-reading occasionally.
